Terms & Conditions:

At Roopie's Dog Grooming, we are proud to provide a safe and secure environment for your dog.  We ask that all of our clients read and understand the following policies and Terms and Conditions BEFORE you book your dog in.

BEFORE THE GROOM

All dogs attending the Salon will have a Client Record on file. This will be completed at the Salon and kept at the Premises and will contain notes and photos of every groom, taken upon arrival and on completion of the groom.  It will also contain notes of any matting, fleas, medical issues that are discovered and full notes on the owners requests and agreements made before the groom is started.  These are used for future reference to help maintain consistancy of the groom and in the event of a complaint.

YOUR PET’S HEALTH AND WELFARE

You must be confident and confirm that your dog is fit and healthy, and up-to-date with their vaccinations. Grooming of sick or elderly dogs is entirely at owner’s risk.

CANCELLATION & RESCHEDULING

All appointments will require a non-refundable deposit, to be paid at the time of booking. We request 24 hours` notice if you need to cancel your pet appointment. We are a small business, please respect that and understand that when you forget or cancel an appointment we miss the opportunity to fill that appointment time. To reschedule or cancel an appointment please call the salon on 07477 159 314. If you are cancelling your appointment outside normal working hours, please leave a voicemail providing your name, dogs name, time and date of appointment.

NON-ATTENDANCE

If you do not show for your appointment without giving adequate notice, any future bookings will require you to pay the full price of your dog’s groom to be paid as a non-refundable payment prior to securing your booking.

TIME KEEPING

Please be punctual. We work by appointment only, and also on a 1-2-1 basis with each dog. We also offer a free appointment reminder by email/text message if requested. Most grooms take 1-2 hours or more depending on the size and the temperament of the dog, and its coat condition. Whilst we appreciate that clients may be late through no fault of their own, we also do have a duty to our other clients who keep to their appointment times.

Any late arrivals of 15 minutes or more, we reserve the right to change or cancel appointments, and pre-payment for future services will be requested where a client has been late for two or more previous appointments. WE DO NOT OFFER A DOG SITTING SERVICE IN THE SALON

PRICING

Pricing is based on breed, hair length, coat condition, temperament, age, and grooming history. Please be advised an extra charge may apply if your dog is matted, requires extra bathing in addition to our standard 2-shampoo process, has fleas, or has not been groomed within the recommended grooming schedule for their breed. All prices shown are guide prices only, we will give you an exact cost at your pre-treatment consultation. Puppy prices are only applicable to dogs under 6 months of age. Please call for breed specific prices.

VACCINATIONS

If your dog has not been vaccinated or their previous vaccination is out of date please leave 14 days from the date of vaccination and their appointment date. We regret that we are unable to groom puppies until 2 weeks after their 2nd vaccination.

FLEAS/TICKS

If your pet is found to have fleas, we will stop the groom, and treat them with a flea treatment bath, which will increase the price of your groom quote by £10.  This covers the cost of the flea elimination using specialist shampoos, towels must be laundered seperately and the cleaning and disinfecting of the salon.  We reserve the right to decline any other types of service until your pets flea infection is treated.

DURING THE GROOM

STAFF’S SAFETY
We reserve the right to muzzle your dog if it represents a danger to any other dog or any person. Any dog that shows aggression to people or other dogs will not be accepted for grooming. Please let us know beforehand if your dog has behavioural problems.

GROOMING ACCIDENTS
Please be aware that if the dog does not respond to the groomer and does not remain still during the grooming procedure, accidents can happen, such as nicks from clippers or toenail trimmers.

NEGLECTED & MATTED COATS - Please scroll down and read our Shaving Disclaimer!
We do not accept liability for any other effects following the treatment of a matted dog. This can include irritation, redness or nicks. Your permission will be required to shave off a matted coat. If you request the mats to be combed out, the groomer will not do this, if it causes the dog undue stress or pain.

EAR PLUCKING
Removing the hair can irritate the delicate skin of ear canals and lead to ear problems. Plucking the hair from a dog`s ear canal leaves minute openings, tiny wounds in the skin where bacteria can settle more easily. We do not offer this service

ANAL GLANDS
Roopie's Dog Grooming does not perform anal gland expression as part of any service offering. It is our belief that this process should be only performed by licensed veterinary person, and only when medically necessary. We believe that anal gland expression should not be a recurring procedure applied to a healthy animal, as serious consequences can result.

LATE PICK UP FEES
You will be advised or phoned what time to collect your pet, please can you arrange for your dog to be collected with a 15 minute window of this time. We do not have the facilities for a dog sitting service, as dogs may become restless after their grooms and may distract other dogs during their appointments. A small charge may be added for early drop of or late pickups

Shaving Disclaimer

*You will be asked to sign a copy in-house before we accept your dog for a groom*
When a dog is brought to us in a severely matted condition, it is our policy to shave the whole coat using electric clippers with a close blade.

We groom HUMANELY and in line with the Animal Welfare Act, 2006. Under the Animal Welfare Act, 2006, it is an offence to cause unnecessary suffering to an animal: - this includes prolonged de-matting’ which is painful and detrimental to the welfare of the dog.
If you bring in your dog with more than 20 minutes of de-matting work, we are required by the Act to clip your dog short humanely or refer you to your vet to do the same.

At Roopie’s, we will only attempt to de-matt 5% of a dog – which equates to about 50p sized matt behind each ear, same size in the armpits and perhaps one or two in the groin or tail area. De-matting more than this would cause the dog tremendous stress and discomfort, often leaving a very thinned & damaged coat. Shaving the coat is quicker and gentler on  the dog. Many dogs are traumatised by unnecessary hours of de-matting, putting them off grooming for life. We consider shaving an act of kindness.

A SEVERELY MATTED DOG CAN SUFFER MANY CONDITIONS:

● Hotspots & sores
● Fungal & bacterial infections
● Yeast infection
● Flea infestation
● Moist eczema
● Mites & lice
● Maggot infestation
● Eye & ear infection
● Severe itching

Once the coat is removed, the skin can be red due to the lack of air circulation and dirt that has accumulated underneath. Occasionally, there are sores, these may nee veterinary treatment. Dogs tend to scratch and rub their skin after the shaving, this is normal, however some dogs can over scratch and this may lead to broken skin. If you are in doubt, please consult your vet. Dogs feel different after shaving, lighter, off balance and cooler, most are glad to have freedom of movement again, and are
full of life. Others seem to take it quite personally that they are bald; they hide for days. The skin will feel like suede and depending on the colour of your dog, can be quite pink. Regardless of how your pet will look, he will feel better.

Book your next appointment regularly. Advance booking ensures you get appointments at regular intervals at times that suits you. Your dog will always look and feel good keeping the coat and skin in healthy condition. Do not wait until they are matted again.

Now is also the best time to start a home grooming routine, the coat is short and manageable, begin gently stroking over the dog, make the grooming session pleasurable for owner & dog. After each short session, give a small reward, as the coat begins to grow progress to using a soft brush then a comb. If bathing your dog ALWAYS brush & comb the coat before, and again after bathing. If you do not have time to groom your dog at home, consider having him professionally groomed more regularly.

Thank you for understanding that we put your dog`s welfare first, that we want their grooming experience to be positive and non-stressful. We cannot justify hours of torture for the sake of good looks. Their coat will grow back (quicker than you will think) their skin will benefit from the better air circulation, but most of all YOUR DOG WILL BE HAPPIER.

Your signature on this form confirms that you have given permission for your dog’s coat to be clipped short and accept that, on this occasion, any personal preference for how your dog should be groomed will not be taken into consideration as we will only do what is best for your dog. Any irritation to your dog’s skin is likely due to the removal of a matted coat and is not the responsibility of your groomer. On the rare occasion that this occurs; you may need to seek veterinary advice.
